backwards with time

This weekend we went out for a little pre anniversary celebration. Back before Christmas John bought us tickets to see The Avett Brothers.  We love their music and John plays it all of the time.  Little Baby Boy was kicking all night, I think he either hated or loved the music because he was so active!  About half way through the concert it started raining and we got soaked, we felt like hippies dancing in the rain.

Thanks to Lisa for keeping our baby alive while we were gone.  Thanks for teaching her how to eat honey suckle and putting her to sleep safe and sound with her muppis.

first fort

This weekend we made a pile of all of our pillows and blankets and made a fort in Evaleigh's nursery.  We cozied up together under the warmth of the soft worn bed sheets.  We had spinach and feta flat bread (Oh feta, we finally reunite! And what a lovely reunion it was!)  We took turns snuggling our daughter and watched a pretty awesome documentary.  Yes, it was amazing.  No, we are not ashamed.  Then we spent the rest of the evening playing music and singing for our baby.

bodies

This weekend we went to see The Nutcracker at The Fox Theater.  John and I had never been to a ballet before.  It was breathtaking, and I'm not just talking about the men in tights.
I watched in amazement at what these people could do with their bodies.  I was in absolute awe of them.
The human body is a pretty miraculous thing.
The way they moved was captivating and I had so much respect for their craft.
I am so grateful to have a body that works the way that it does.  I am grateful that my body is strong and healthy and that I can carry this baby inside of me.  We have been given such a special gift to use our bodies however we please.
As I watched these dancers use their bodies to make art, I was humbled by them.
It was a true Christmas experience as the gratitude of my heart was enlarged.

In other news, 4 weeks and a few days til baby EJ.  I cannot WAIT to meet her.  She has been so active lately.  She is still breech which scares me tremendously.  I want so badly to have a natural birth and really need her to turn that little head upside down!  I might try and coax her below with some Christmas music near my pelvis tonight accompanied by and bag of peas on my upper torso all while laying upside down with my feet in the air.
It is going to be quite the sight to see.
This body is going to be doing some impressive things of its own tonight...

the promised date

As promised, I got my date night full of tree decorating and hot chocolate.  There wasn't a fire or a movie but there was plenty of Christmas music on the record player and episodes of The New Girl and The Cosby's.

This year we went mostly all homemade on our Christmas tree decorations.  I did however get a whole arm full of cuddly fabric animals from Target to go on the tree.  I am thinking of reusing them for a mobile in EJ's room when we are done with them for Christmas, they are just too cute to put away for a whole year after we are done with them.

We ended the weekend watching (this) and it truly brought the spirit of Christmas to us.  I am so looking forward to the rest of this Holiday season.
Mostly because our baby girl is on the other end of it!

oh boy! oh boy!

Mr. Murphy has promised me a date night of decorating our little Christmas tree(of which I still have quite the story to share), hot chocolate, snuggling by a fire, and a Christmas movie on the couch.

Sounds like just about the best Friday anyone could have.

(our handmade decorations waiting to find a home for the Christmas season! TONIGHT IS YOUR NIGHT CHRISTMAS TREE!)

Happy Friday!!!

...and just like that, a year went by.

Last night Mr. Murphy and I celebrated our one year anni with some beautiful music (and maybe a little slow dancing during one special song).

Last night we went to the James Taylor concert at Chastain Park.
I can't believe he is 63 and still rockin' it.
He is a faithful member of our record collection.

John surprised me with the tickets a few months back.
We went bearing a picnic basket full of yummy treats and sparkling refreshment.  Nothing says sexy anniversary dinner like roasted pine nut hummus, tuscan flatbread, Publix Bakery cupcakes and cannolis(i don't really know how to pluralize that), chocolate covered strawberries, and Welch's sparkling grape juice from an Anthropologie tumbler.

A tear rolled down my cheek when James played, "You Can Close Your Eyes".
Mr. Murphy and I have many songs and that is one of them.

Flash Mob in Kroger

Kroger in Grayson had its very own and no doubt first flash mob dance breakout last night.
We strolled down the unexpected freezer aisle and them shamelessly broke out in to a terrifically choreographed dance number.

We are happy because we dance in the grocery store in an aisle all to ourselves at 11 o'clock at night.

We left bearing goods of Pomegranate Pops and Ben & Jerry's 'Everything But The...' ice-cream.

(a little picture of our new bedroom, we still haven't found the nuts and bolts to put our bed together so we have been sleeping with our mattress on the floor. no doubt they will show up in the very last box i unpack)

We exited Kroger in slow motion to the sound of "Chariots of Fire" playing overhead. (dun dun dun dun duun duuun ch ch ch ch...you know what i'm talkin' bout)

(Kroger always seems to bring out magical moments in our marriage.)

I would always choose...

...a night in.

We are
home
bodies.

Friday came this week and we moaned and groaned about what to do.  I always feel some sort of unnecessary pressurized feeling to do something cool freaktastic awesome just because it's a Friday.
So Mr. Murphy and I threw some ideas around.  We thought about going to Chicken and Waffles, we thought about going mini-golfing, we thought about venturing to the $ theater.  But all of these things required jeans or some sort of pants that are definitely not better than leggings paired with an over-sized shirt and tall socks.
So, we decided on a lovely evening with our new flat screen, ice-cream, and Hulu/Netflix.

I let the hubs pick out my outfit to go out for our evening trek to pick up our night-time treat.  I almost left the house in a purple shirt paired with some zebra heels.
Almost.
I had to veto husband's shoe choice.

As we perused the ice-cream section in Kroger, Mr. Murphy came close to me and his warm soft hand slid into mine.  That moment may not have meant anything to him but to me it was unforgettable.  Everything got a little hazy and it felt so good. We stood there chatting about what flavors to get and in my mind I was saying this...

"I don't care what I am doing as long as I am with you. You make everything fun, everything interesting, everything exciting. Our life is amazing, is everyone this lucky?  The simplest thing makes for the most lovely of memories, and this is it. Having you makes every moment of life enchanting.  There is nothing in the world I would rather be doing than standing in front of the freezer section in Kroger holding your enormous comforting hand. Nothing."

The sound of New York Style Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream brought me back to reality.  So, then we ogled all of the new flavors and decided on these two gems.

and

You know whats cool?

Hanging out with your husband in sweats and leggings.
Eating copious amounts of New York-Style Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream and English Toffee Ice Cream.
Making-out every time the stupid Verizon commercial with weird lightening plays AGAIN, just so you have a reason not to have to watch it for the billionth time.
Watching old episodes of Felix the Cat and trying to learn the theme song.
Watching old episodes of Rugrats.  You know you remember Tommy, Chucky, Phil, Lil, and Angelica.
Eating maraschino cherries from a jar.
Staying up unreasonably late with the sweet sweet feeling of knowing that you can sleep in however late you'd like the next morning.
Yellow argyle socks that go half way up your calf.
Pillow Fights at 3 a.m.
Staying in on Friday nights, dare to be different.

A Death...A Birth

Good news, there has been a death.

Bad news:  It wasn't our mouse.

THE GREEN STRIPES HAVE DIED!

And this is why the hubs and I decided to make a fort in our very new and wonderfully green stripe free living room.

I need to change those light-bulbs, eh?

We tried to watch Monsters Inc.  but I fell asleep. Shameful, I know.  It's hard for me to finish any movie that is started after midnight.

We had some wonderful beverages.  Hot hot hot Chocolate and some Welches Bubbly.

Check out those long beautiful legs.  My man could have been a ballerina.

We celebrated our new clean white wall with some Sparkling Red Grape juice.  I could drink an entire bottle of that by my self...in one sitting.  I swear, its a good thing I don't ever drink alcohol, it could be a bad situation.

And now for another fort.

More good news:  There has been a birth.

We have a new child.

Last night, after dinner with our aunt and uncle, John gave me my very first guitar.  She is a classical guitar and is lovely. It was his quite some time ago and has been through a bit as you can see from her 4 strings.

Mr. Murphy and I played our first guitar duet together.  "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room".  Its too hott to share now. (Plus maybe I need some more practice...)

It's such an incredible sensation to feel so connected to an object. My instrument has always been inside of my body because of singing.  Now I am learning how to develop this new talent out side of my body and it is a completely new challenge.  I can't wait to hear all of the things that will come out of this beautiful instrument that is so foreign to me.
