I am sorry for getting behind on these! Here is your two month video.  You turned 3 months on Saturday so I better get cracking on that one too.  My life is pretty busy and full trying to take care of you and your sassy sister. You two are the most precious things in my life.  I adore you and your most perfect smiles you give me throughout the day.

one day i'll be a year

Yesterday Evaleigh and I passed part of the rainy day away by watching all of her monthly videos.  It made me so happy to see how much she enjoyed them.  She sat there through all 12 monthly videos laughed at them and announced every person who popped up on to the screen that she knew.

I knew I had to do the same for Avett.  So here it is.  The wonderful beginning to Avett Murphy's life.  I wish I had more videos of Avett with his Grammy who was with us for 3 weeks after he was born.  She was an absolute life saver and I couldn't imagine doing those 3 weeks without her.  We love you so much Grammy!

Looking back at these videos I already can't believe how much he has changed (and grown!) 

Avett, you are enormous.  And adorable.  And so very happy.

We are so excited for baby A.M.M to join our family in October!  We already love you so much and your big sister can't wait to meet you.  Keep growing!

positive vibes for Grover

Our Uncle Grover has been very sick the past couple of months. He is now in the hospital and is heading towards having a lung transplant. He is one of the most positive people we know and his wife is as strong as they come.

Today it was our plan to go to visit him in the hospital and serenade him with some tunes but last night we got a text at midnight saying that he has been moved back in to the ICU and no visitors could come. So we went to the next best thing and decided to record a couple of songs for him and Sally. We did 'Wonderful Tonight' because that is what Grover sang to Sally at their wedding. So we hope they enjoy that song again like newlyweds. The other song we did is 'Don't Worry, Be Happy', if Grover had the breath to sing this one, he would. Because that is the kind of man he is...happy, carefree, and fun.

We love you so much Grover. As soon as we are allowed will be there in person to make music for you. Til then every song we sing is for you.

If anyone out there could send him positive vibes or pray for him we know he would appreciate it. Also if you'd like to upload some music for Grover send us the link and we will send it to him!  Music brings him so much joy!

It still blows my mind that I am the mom of a one year old.

On her first birthday I cried for the whole 30 minutes before her birth minute.

Darling girl,

I can't believe that this is the last video before you turn one.  This first year of your life has been the absolute biggest joy of mine and your Daddy's life.  Right now you are standing in our living room watching all of your monthly videos on the big screen.  

You love to stick your fingers in our mouths all of the time and you giggle when we nibble on them.  You love to dance.  You still love to nurse more than anything and I'm just fine with that, you have the rest of your life for big girl food.  You took your first steps a few weeks ago but this past week you have really started walking.  I'm so proud of you.  Your favorite activities are 'reading books' upside down and climbing the stairs like its your job.  You still love sitting still and pounding your feet on the ground.  YOU HAVE 10 TEETH, with  more on the way!!  You can say 'mama' 'dada' 'jesus' 'puppy' 'bye'.  You can clap, wave, and blow kisses.  You love to wrap your sweet little arms around mama and daddy's neck and giving us really wet open mouth kisses.

Here is month 10.

Little girl has been:

very clingy to her dada, she loves to wave 'bye-bye' to him through the glass door in the mornings

enjoying being spoiled with Christmas Reeses from her Pawpaw

maybe teething again

trying to chew on any cord in reach
ripping up little pieces of paper and trying to eat them

starting to wander in the pews in church on Sunday

sleeping through the night til 6 then going back to bed til 9/9:30

pointing at all of the new decorations that go up in the house and making sure that her Grandmommee sees every single one of them when she comes to visit

giving her mama sweet open mouth kisses

I can't believe it has taken me this long to get her 9 month video up. Especially because she is already 10 months!  Things have been so busy since our move that I am just now starting to slow down, there is so much to catch up on!  This video may be one of my favorites, the song in particular.  She is just at my most favorite stage (they are all my most favorite though.)

whoa sweet child of mine

Evaleigh Joy,

You are perfect.  Just simply perfect.  Yesterday at dinner your daddy looked at you and said, "Did you get cuter during your nap?"  And that's just how it is.  Every new moment you are cuter and cuter.  You are constantly doing new things.  Just two days ago you started a very high pitched squeal.  Last night you had to try it out VERY loudly at Target.  You must have your mommy's singing lungs because you are SO loud.  You say 'dada' ALL the time.  Is that the only word you know?

You will be crawling in no time.  You are trying so very hard to push yourself up and it is precious.  You have 4 teeth now.  I must say that out of all of the months 6 to 7 seemed to be the longest, in a good way.  I felt like time slowed down for a bit there and I am so thankful.

You have started reaching out for strangers to hold you and it makes my heart sink each time.  Oh, if I could just protect you always I would.  I can't describe how it makes me feel, you are such a curious one.

You are the absolute joy of our lives.

here's my heart

This weekend John and I got to play at Ponce Unplugged in Atlanta with a few friends. I love being married to someone who loves music just as much as I do. Some others who performed were Sam Crowley, Jenna Kimble (soon to be Zimmerman!), and Jenn Mack. John and I did two songs. The first one was a funky arrangement we wrote ourselves of Come Thou Fount, I'm in love with it. Then we did our original To Be. It was so much fun and we are going to try to make it a regular thing, so if anyone wants to come perform let me know, we are trying to get people together from all different denominations of religions to perform.

This song means so much to me. It reminds me of my freshman year of college singing the Mack Wilberg arrangement with Alan Raines and the University Singers. This song was a great comfort to me at that time, we had just found out my father had cancer and I thought of him each time we rehearsed that song and would pray for him as we sang it. Thank God he is ok now, but this song will always remind me of my father and my personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

10 days late

Evaleigh,

You are 5 months old.  Sorry this video is a little late.  You are keeping us very busy these days.  Your a-da and I have nicknamed you our morningbird because you like to wake us up at 7:30 now.  You start with loud squeals and squawks until we finally peel our eyes open and pay attention to you.  Daddy and I just smile at each other listening to your sounds, what are you saying?  You can not stand for anything to touch your feet while you are trying to go to bed and you don't like the covers...you are a messy sleeper like your a-da.  You must always have a nap exactly an hour and a half after you wake up, its your thing.  5 months has been a wonder to behold.  You have exploded with learning new things and we are loving seeing your personality grow and shine through that little body of yours.

and just like that...

...we have a talking baby.

I mean I knew it would happen one day and thats just how it went. One day she was making little muted noises that sounded like she had been gagged and stuck in a closet and then the next she was full blown talking.  It happened over night.


She is definitely keeping us laughing around here, we love our chatty little girl. 


So. freakin. adorable.

Our teeny lovely is four months old.

She is smiling like crazy when we bounce her bottom, help her kick her legs, play peek-a-boo, and say, "Hello!" especially in the quiet untouched moments of the morning.


If you make it to the end of this video you get the reward of hearing her very first laugh, possibly the highlight of my whole life.
