Last year while John was finishing up school we decided I should make some extra money to help us though the last bit of college years.  So, in July 2016 I started making hand sewn fabric banners from new, re-purposed, and vintage fabrics not knowing if anyone would even be interested. 

I actually made my first one more than 3 years ago for Evaleigh's "Its SEW cool to be 2" party that she never had because she woke up the day of her birthday with the throw-ups.  Little did I know then that that idea would spark a little business that has grown in to something wonderful over the past 7 months.  It started small with doing the Athens Farmers Markets and then I branched out doing Holiday markets and craft fairs.  It has all been so fun and sewing is such a relaxing activity for me.  

I wanted to share here some of the things I have been doing.  I'm so grateful for people who support small business and in turn support little families like mine.  I love the idea of handmade items with charm and love.

felt ball nursery mobile

Ooooo today I was crafty and it felt so good! It has been quite some time since I had a moment to myself.  My sweet mother took Evaleigh with her to her doctors appointment this morning.  Since Avett has been sleeping in til 10 like a teenager I ran outside and picked out the perfect branch for a project I've been itching to do.  I used fabric and felt balls I already had and made Avett a mobile for his nursery.  I don't know what it is about making something that does good to my soul.  I had fun.  Seeing Avett look up at it after I finished and smile for about 3 minutes made it even better. 

DIY Instagram Board Book

Last year I worked for about 4 months collecting images all around our home to make EJ her very own Alphabet Board Book.  It all started around the end of summer when I was house sitting with Lisa at a beautiful little bungalow near the city.  I have fond memories of watching An Affair to Remember all snuggled up with some Ben & Jerry's and shooing away two doggies.  RIP little bungalow, I sure enjoyed pretending you were my house.  Hey Lis, I wish we could go back.

I found a company that does custom board books and sent the book off to print for a Christmas present for Evaleigh.  I used My Custom Story.  I highly recommend them.  The quality of the book has withstood the test of my little book biter and they shipped it a couple of weeks sooner than expected!  I am so in love with how it turned out and I love seeing EJ enjoy it.  (P.S. I spy one hand of painted fingernails and a curl popping out of her head at the end!)

animal patterns

I have made EIGHT of these precious patterns available to all! They are in a very high resolution so if you print them off they should be just the right size as the pattern.  The animals come out to be about 6-8 inches tall.

 They have been so much fun to make and I am still working on completing my set.

evie's new friends

The other day while deep cleaning the basement my mother found this vintage pattern that belonged to my Nanny.  I fell in love with it the moment I saw it and wanted to make all of these little guys for EJ.

We went to Hobby Lobby and bought a lot of different fabrics.  It was best to pick patterns with small designs on them.  I did get a few larger prints though, I couldn't pass up the gray chevron.

We did all of the embroidery before we sewed the animals together.  I still have 6 more to make, I am just taking my time because they take so long and I want them to be right.  I can't wait for her to have all the animals in her posse.

parkers baby shower

Mr. Parker is coming to join us in just a month!  Remember when this happened?? 

That feels about 10 minutes ago.

But now he is coming to this world and I can't wait to be his auntie!

After everyone left we stayed outside until it got dark, and then we stayed outside some more and made a fire.  I don't think my feet went inside until 11:30pm.
