It's been two weeks since I had the best pizza of my life.  Last night I was craving Pizzeria Limone really bad so I decided instead of trying to figure out a way to get back 2,400 miles away to Utah, I would just have to do something at home as similar as I could.  

Lemon Pizza:

Crust

2 1/4 teaspoon yeast

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 and 1/2 cup warm water

combine in a bowl and let proof for 10 minutes

using dough hook then add

1/2 cup wheat germ

1/2 cup flax seed

2 and 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

2 tablespoons coconut oil

1/2 teaspoon salt

Let it rise in oiled bowl covered for an hour

Punch down, roll out on to corn mealed pizza stone, then add toppings.

For the Toppings:

Drizzle coconut oil on top of rolled out crust

add garlic salt

thinly sliced lemons

blackberries

thinly sliced ham

pineapple

and shredded pepperjack cheese

Top with a light dusting of garlic salt

bake at 450 for 18 minutes

It wasn't an exact replica that's for sure, but it was a delicious close second!

apple picking

This past Friday Evie and I went apple picking with my mom at her husband's house.  We picked Yates and Fuji's.  My mom rode us around in their four wheeler and I would stand up in it and hand down the apples I picked for Evie to put in the bucket. She wanted to eat them straight off of the tree, so we let her.  That night I made two lattice top apple pies from scratch.  It doesn't get more homemade than apples right out of the backyard and a homemade buttery flakey crust with Plugra butter.  

I just love that fall is creeping in.  The mornings are perfect here but by 3 it's normally 79 or 80 degrees.  I'm so excited for when it cools down for good.  I love that October starts tomorrow.  That means so many good things are coming: my birthday, General Conference, holidays, fall weather, oh and WE ARE HAVING A BABY!  This could be the week!

homemade christmas.

I am always looking for ways to reuse anything around the house.  This year an old Jesus the Christ book from the 70's was my victim.  I present to you my...

1.  Find an old book you don't mind ripping up.  I felt a little guilty ripping up a book about Jesus but at the same time, isn't that what this Holiday is all about anyway?!  Now, I feel justified.

2.  Tear out several pages.

3.  Fold them short ways accordion style.

4.  Bend them in half.

5.  Put two of them together.  Tie string around the middles to hold together and glue seams shut.

After assembling all of the paper ornaments I gave them a pop of color with this paper tape from Anthropologie.

We paired these decorations with some vintage seam binding from my Nanny.  We had several colors so we cut them into strips and tied them together to form a colorful garland.

And there you have it!  Someone 40 years ago bought a book and I turned it in to a cheap and easy DIY Holiday decoration! 

P.S. Two years ago today I got to do something very special.  I went to this place for the first time.  I will never forget the reverence and beauty of that peaceful day.  I am so grateful for this season and the time to reflect on my love for the Savior.  This is such an incredibly special time of year for me as I remember the sacred blessings I received that day.

the promised date

As promised, I got my date night full of tree decorating and hot chocolate.  There wasn't a fire or a movie but there was plenty of Christmas music on the record player and episodes of The New Girl and The Cosby's.

This year we went mostly all homemade on our Christmas tree decorations.  I did however get a whole arm full of cuddly fabric animals from Target to go on the tree.  I am thinking of reusing them for a mobile in EJ's room when we are done with them for Christmas, they are just too cute to put away for a whole year after we are done with them.

We ended the weekend watching (this) and it truly brought the spirit of Christmas to us.  I am so looking forward to the rest of this Holiday season.  

Mostly because our baby girl is on the other end of it!

Nursery Week- DIY Mini Banner Pillow

Last week I was a nursery project doing freak!

I completed 5 of my to-do's for EJ's room.

This week we are going to have Nursery Week and I am going to share a few of my projects.

I am really excited to share this project because I came up with the idea all on my own...or at least I think I did.  

So, if you've ever seen a pillow like this one, just keep it to yourself so I can keep thinking I was cool enough to cook this idea up all by myselfsies!

What you'll need:

Pillow

Several different prints of fabric

Sewing Machine

Tape Measure

Scissors

I can't wait to rock my sweet baby in this chair.  

I figured a mini party banner would be appropriate since we two will be up partying together til the wee hours of the morn.

Maybe daddy can join us too.

Can't wait.

Homemade Nanner Ice-Cream

I saw something brilliant on this lady's blog the other day.  I have to agree that it is so easy to just pin and pin and pin til your little creative heart wants to explode.  But the whole thing about Pinterest for me is that I want to make sure that I am LIVING PINTEREST.  I don't want to just collect creative ideas...I WANT TO DO THEM!

So, this gem of a recipe is brought to you by...

And if you think about it, its really quite a healthy dessert (comparatively to say cheesecake or chocolate cake or cookies. all of which I could go for right about now)

Anyhow, try it.  It was amazing.  Now for your viewing pleasure here are a couple pictures of us in our white trash evening attire about to enjoy two big bowls of Nanner Ice-cream.

DIY Shabby Chic Antique Table

Refinishing old pieces of furniture has recently become a new favorite hobby of mine.

Since John and I have moved to the new place I have been a home decorating fool.  

I have so many little projects that I've done that I can't wait to share.

Yesterday I shabby chic'd our old coffee table.  It is the easiest way to create a fun new piece of furniture FAST!

In 4 easy steps you can have a new "old" piece of furniture.

1. Sand down the furniture.

2. Wipe down the piece to remove excess saw dust.

3. Paint the piece with your color of choice. (at least two coats.  I use Behr Eggshell Antique White)

4. Let it dry then use medium grade sand paper and rough up the edges. (try to sand spots where the piece of furniture would have been bumped/scraped/hit naturally!)
